Members will consider the welfare of their dogs and that of the breed above any personal gain or profit.
Item 2
Members will be expected to conduct themselves in a manner representative of the objectives upon which the Weimaraner Association of Canada is founded, and will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all events. Members will not speak unjustly and without cause of others involved in the breed.
Item 3
Members will pledge to educate the public as to the attributes of the Weimaraner.
Members will also endeavor to provide mentorship and education to those new to the breed, including training, breeding and general care.
Item 4
Members will attempt as conscientious breeders to breed dogs and produce puppies exemplified by the Canadian Kennel Club standard in both conformation and temperament.
Item 5
Members will keep accurate and complete records of their stock, mating(s) and pedigrees, as required by Canadian Kennel Club

Members will refuse to knowingly deal with unethical breeders, pet shops or wholesalers and will attempt to place puppies in a home with adequate facilities where they will receive proper attention and care.
Item 8
Members will maintain the best possible standards of health and care in all their dogs. Members will sell puppies that are healthy, with the required immunization, are properly identified by tattoo or microchip, and not before they are 8 weeks old.
Item 9
Members will maintain and disclose to the purchaser factual health, breeding and registration records. The Canadian Kennel Club registration certificate will be provided to the purchaser as promptly as possible. A three-generation pedigree shall be furnished to each purchaser. All dogs must be sold with a contract. At the discretion of the breeder, a dog can be
placed on a non-breeding agreement, to be signed by both parties at the time of sale. The purchaser will be furnished with a complete copy of the non-breeding agreement and the supporting agreements as promptly as possible.

Members will urge purchasers to have any puppy or adult examined by a veterinarian within 72 hours of possession.

Members will advertise in an honest and fair manner and will not misrepresent themselves or their stock.

Breeding Recommendations:

- Must be registered, and not on a non-breeding agreement
- Must be in good health
- Must have no serious hereditary faults
- Must be of sound temperament
- Must be x-rayed clear of hip dysplasia (OFA or PennHip)
- Must have the Weimaraner DNA Panel (HUU, HYM, SD) completed, or be able to provide proof of parents who tested clear (only valid for one generation, per DNA testing guidelines: https://www.ofa.org/about/policies/clear-by-parentage).
- Desirable age of 12 months or older, provided that prelims are passed (hips) and other testing specified above are completed
- Only be bred 2 heats out of 3
- Minimum of 20 months, provided that prelims are passed (hips) and other testing specified above are completed, ideally 24 months or older
- Autoimmune Thyroiditis Evaluation (OFA evaluation from an approved laboratory)
- Cardiac Evaluation (minimum Auscultation)
- Eye Certification – examination by board certified Ophthalmologist
